These colored pencil drawings were painstakingly crafted by layering dozens of Prismacolor pencils between 2007-2010. My high school senior thesis explored the effects of light, on contrast and value in reflective surfaces like glass and water. It pushed my knowledge of color theory and layering to my limits and landed several of these pieces in an exhibition at the Wells Gallery of Art in Downtown Charleston. where a few were sold. (RIP) The first of these works, Untitled, a still-life, was the SC District 1 Winner in the 1st Congressional Art Competition. It hung in the Capitol building during the inauguration of 44th President Barack Obama in 2008.

I was already quite skilled at 15 when I got to the Charleston County School of the Arts back in '07. I remember saying that "my teachers back home in the 'burg taught me everything" I'd need to know about art... Well, except humility. I believe credit is owed where credit is due so in my first ever NFT I want to immortalize a few teachers. From Orangeburg, SC, Malissa Wright for recognizing talent in me early, and Bretta and Alvin Staley for introducing form, structure and methodology to middle schoolers during summer break and high school during the school year. These are the best teachers in the world! I want to thank Benjamin Moore who challenged me to apply my colored pencil techniques to reflections in glass pushing me to create 'Untitled'. The first of 10 glass drawings that came from that journey that quite possibly won me my internship that would later become a 7 year long victory lap.
