These colored pencil drawings were painstakingly crafted by layering dozens of Prismacolor pencils between 2007-2010. My high school senior thesis explored the effects of light, on contrast and value in reflective surfaces like glass and water. It pushed my knowledge of color theory and layering to my limits and landed several of these pieces in an exhibition at the Wells Gallery of Art in Downtown Charleston. where a few were sold. (RIP) The first of these works, Untitled, a still-life, was the SC District 1 Winner in the 1st Congressional Art Competition. It hung in the Capitol building during the inauguration of 44th President Barack Obama in 2008.

This self-portrait was draw in Mrs. Staley's classroom at Orangeburg Wilkinson High Schoolin 2007. My mom had just accepted a new job and I was accepted into the Charleston County School of the Arts. I was 15 at the time of this drawing. This and one other self portrait would land me my spot and earn me my reputation when I later moved to Charleston, SC.
