These colored pencil drawings were painstakingly crafted by layering dozens of Prismacolor pencils between 2007-2010. My high school senior thesis explored the effects of light, on contrast and value in reflective surfaces like glass and water. It pushed my knowledge of color theory and layering to my limits and landed several of these pieces in an exhibition at the Wells Gallery of Art in Downtown Charleston. where a few were sold. (RIP) The first of these works, Untitled, a still-life, was the SC District 1 Winner in the 1st Congressional Art Competition. It hung in the Capitol building during the inauguration of 44th President Barack Obama in 2008.

This drawing, much like others in this collection, explores the reflection of light on glass surfaces. The number of pencils it takes in order to create these pieces is sickening. Completing one of these drawings can take anywhere between 40 and 100 hours. Please consider purchasing to fuel my comeback to art.
