Triceratops was a genus of herbivorous chasmosaurine ceratopsid dinosaur of the Late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago in what is now North America. It was also one of the largest, up to 9 meters long and 12 metric tons in weight. Tyrannosaurus is a genus of large theropod dinosaur of the Upper Cretaceous period, 68 to 66 million years ago. The species Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning "king" in Latin), often called T. rex or colloquially T-Rex, is one of the best represented theropods. Tyrannosaurus lived throughout what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia.
