The photo was taken in spring during the counting of the colony of Pelecanus crispus on the territory of the Agrakhan reserve of the Dagestansky reserve. On average, one family of Dalmatian pelicans has 2-3 chicks, but in some cases there is an example of a large family, which includes 4 young chicks. The location of the nest is also unusual. Pelicans usually nest in groups, as can be seen in the background. But this family decided to settle away from the main colony.
