I was in Avila Beach, California taking photos. At the top of a retaining wall by the side of the road was a bunch of rather tenacious California Poppies. This particular day there was not a cloud in the sky. I was able to stand at the base of the wall and shoot up to get the light filtering through the flowers and the beautiful clear blue sky. For my fiber art version, I made the sky much more dramatic. I love the way the fabric adds texture and the thread adds movement. It's one of the reasons I love thread painting so much. Then I discovered digital manipulation and my technical side took over. These images all start with the same base image, which is my original sewn thread painting, which I manipulate in different ways. I am really enjoying this process. And I love the results. It would be difficult for me to choose a favorite, but I do have a few. I wonder if they are the same ones you like.

Tumbling Blocks

There is a quilt pattern known as "Tumbling Blocks" or "Baby Blocks." Although the quilt pattern dates back to the 1850s, the pattern was used as far back as ancient Greece where it was used as a mosaic floor design. This has always been one of my favorite quilt patterns and I was excited when I could create one as an NFT.
