This portrait is inspired by the character Gavroche Thénardier is a fictional character in the 1862 novel Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo. He is an abandoned child (not an orphan), forced to live on the streets of Paris. He really is a singular character of a boy who has two brothers, but his parents do not show affection for him.
