The balls felt like soft dough, just before it rises in the oven, but they were as cold as ice. They were gooey but not sticky. The balls smelled like fresh roses and fruity bubble gum with a hint of gasoline. They varied in sizes and the ball Boom grabbed was bigger than the others. The breakers walked around the cave with the alien gumballs in the palms of their hands. They were captivated by the different colors of light that radiated small constellations on the cave walls. After several minutes, the gumballs started to flicker. The oceans, tornados, and stars inside the balls stopped swirling and whooshing about. Suddenly, each breaker felt queasy and had a sharp stabbing pain pierce their temples before they collapsed in the sand. The gumballs flashed slowly until they went completely dark.
