Medusa is the most well-known of the Gorgon monsters from Greek mythology. Perseus, Medusa's slayer, was able to kill her by cutting off her head since she was the only Gorgon who was mortal. Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two sons with Poseidon, were born from the blood that spurted from her neck.
