Yemoja, the Queen Mother, is seen as the figure of motherhood and is revered by barren women as she provides them with children. She is said to be able to cure infertility in women. It was believed that the first mortal man was birthed by her. Yemoja is the orisha of fertility and the protector of pregnant women as well as bodies of water and has under her protection those who travel, work or live around water.
