Asantewaa
was an influential Queen who untraditionally was a war leader and warrior. Her strength and knowledge of war strategy matched all of her male counterparts. The King struggled to contain his Queen as she was not like other queens or ladies of royalty. Asantewaa was a woman with fire in her heart which was said to be from the story of her birth.
It was said that Asantewaa mothers village was being raided by another tribe. During the night of the raid whilst Asantewaa mothers and fathers home was being burned Asantewaa mother was in active labour and couldn’t move. With the walls around her burning Asantewaa mother gave birth to her little girl whilst her father used his body as a shield from the falling roof Asantewaa and her mother somehow made it out from under her fathers dead body and out of the ashes of their burned home. Asantewaa was told she was born in fire which is why she is one of the fiercest and feared woman warrior in history.
